Alok Sharma, secretary of state at BEIS, has committed to rebuild a “cleaner, greener and more resilient” economy as the UK tackles the economic impact of the pandemic. An Energy White Paper is due this autumn as are strategies on Heat and Buildings and new announcements on bringing forward the ban on fossil fuelled vehicles as early as 2030.

In this interview Merlin Hyman, CEO of Regen, will explore with Declan the seismic shifts taking place in energy generation, storage and use and the government’s role in putting the energy sector on a net zero path. What are the key questions the Energy White Paper should be answering and how have these been changed by the pandemic?
