Regen’s solar and storage developer forum brings together leading players in the sector with key policy makers and regulators to discuss how to enable large scale solar to become a successful and sustainable sector, playing a key role in the UK’s energy future and decarbonisation targets.

The development of subsidy free solar and storage projects is beginning to take off in the UK as the economics reach a level that is acceptable to investors. However, progress remains too slow for the UK’s zero carbon commitments. National Grid FES has stated that GB solar PV capacity will need to increase by at least 10 GW, and total storage capacity by 11 GW before 2030 to meet all scenarios compliant with the 2008 Climate Change Act. The new 2050 net-zero emissions target announced by government further accelerates this rate of change and the capacity required.

This forum heard from leading developers and investors on the pipeline of projects coming through in 2020 and debated what would be required to catalyse investment and enable the scale of development we will need; from floor prices to REGO reforms.

Speakers include:

  • Ricardo Piñeiro, partner, Foresight Group
  • Abid Kazim, managing director, NextEnergy Capital
  • Toddington Harper, chief executive officer, GRIDSERVE
  • David Peill, commercial director, BSR Group
