As senior energy analyst, Jack applies his skills in analysis, Python, SQL and Machine Learning fundamentals to support the transition to net zero. Jack is also passionate about new and innovative ways of working and is helping to expand Regen’s analytical capability and streamline knowledge sharing across the analyst team and wider organisation.
He led on a flagship thought-leadership report in the Go West! project, exploring the energy system benefits and policy implications of a more diversified offshore wind portfolio, which was cited by the Climate Change Committee and by Tim Pick, the former UK Offshore Wind Champion. Jack’s work includes:
- Managing a project with Possible and Community Energy England to explore the viability of combining community wind schemes with electrified heating technology to improve the affordability of energy bills and aiming to end reliance on gas.
- Delivering a report outlining the technology innovation and economic growth opportunities that clean maritime propulsion systems can offer the UK.
- Assessing future supply and demand in SSEN’s licence areas as part of the Distribution Future Energy Scenarios.
- Producing insights into the State of the Community Energy sector in NGED’s licence areas.
Jack has a decade of experience working in data analytics within the energy industry, including six years’ experience developing new renewable technology for tidal stream and wind energy working at Det Norske Veritas (DNV), Marine Current Turbines and Simec Atlantis Energy. Jack is a qualified engineer; he holds a MSc in Advanced Computational Methods for Fluid Dynamics and a BA in Mathematics.
