Western Power Distribution (WPD) is carrying out substantial engagement on the shift in their role to becoming a Distribution System Operator (DSO) and the role of flexibility in managing the network. They recognise that one size does not fit all, so they’ve been working together with us at Regen on this consultation to engage community energy organisations and local energy stakeholders. The consultation paper sets out what we think DSO and flexibility markets might mean for community energy groups and local energy stakeholders, but we want to know what you think, so are inviting feedback through an online questionnaire on what matters most to you.

The deadline for responses to the consultation is 7 September.

This consultation aims to:

  • support community energy organisations to learn about our changing energy system, DSO and the development of flexibility markets
  • encourage informed participation to find out what communities think and what their future energy plans are, and;
  • use this evidence to inform WPD’s ongoing engagement and capacity building support for community and local energy stakeholders going forward
  • ensure WPD’s vision and strategy for DSO is aligned with the needs of customers and stakeholders
