Low Carbon Estates

Description

We help organisations and suppliers deliver against their carbon reduction commitments and sustainability objectives. We help them understand their property portfolios and in doing so move to a low carbon future. We aim to do this without compromising on design or functional performance.

By carefully considering how we design, build, occupy, operate and maintain our built environment we can harness the principals of Biophilia and in turn improve the way we all feel about the spaces we occupy; improving our well being and as a consequence our productivity. Carbon Reduction is often a natural consequence of this approach to design and estate management.

Many organisations are now recognising the enormity of the task ahead of them; having acknowledged the reality of climate change and committed to often dramatic and rapid carbon reduction it is essential that actionable plans are developed and implemented.

Our aim is to help organisations do this and in turn deliver lasting beneficial change.

Storelectric Ltd

Description

Storelectric Ltd is a developer of projects using highly efficient forms of Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES) using existing technologies, at a grid scale, efficiently and cost-effectively.

Both Storelectric’s CAES systems offer the ability not only to generate electricity but also store it when there is excess, to respond to intermittency issues and to provide ancillary services to the grid. When there is surplus electricity on the grid, Storelectric’s CAES uses it to compress air to around 70 bar pressure, also storing the heat. When electricity is required, air and heat are released through turbines to generate it. Power rating of storage, power rating of discharge and amount of energy stored are all independent variables in the design of these plants, enabling it to be optimised for baseload, fast response, interconnection, wind farm management and many other load cases.

Teign Energy Communities

Description

We want people in the local area to become more aware of, and engaged with their use of energy, so that energy becomes as familiar as money.

How have we done this?

We have set up a Community Benefit Society (CBS). This allows us to identify , deliver, own and run Renewable Energy installations. The Society is already generating an income from projects to benefit the community around energy use.

So what does our vision really mean?

We don’t just want to help organisations put renewable energy installations on sites they own or occupy. We also want to work with these organisations and the wider community to become more aware of our energy use.

By engaging with energy use , we are all more likely to understand and appreciate it. This can also lead to a change in our attitudes and behaviour when using energy, not just at work or school, but also when we go home.
