A new book exploring energy, imagination and creative practice

Regen is partnering with art.earth Books on a new publication, On a day like today we just need to look forward... a call for creative voices to help reimagine our relationship with energy.

This international, independent collection will explore how culture, creativity and critical thinking can help us understand energy in new ways, beyond the technical and towards the emotional, political and poetic.

We’re looking for contributions that bring rigour, imagination and openness. Submissions might be visual, text-based, speculative or research-led. They might come from artists, engineers, community organisers, philosophers or policy thinkers. The key is a shared willingness to explore the role of energy in society, climate and the living world.

Why now?

Ten years ago, Regen, art.earth and Schumacher College hosted the landmark Feeding the Insatiable symposium. It brought together urgent and inspiring voices exploring the intersections of creativity and energy.

A decade later, the world has shifted, in climate, culture and technology. But many of the same tensions remain. Fossil fuel use is peaking, but emissions fall far too slowly. Electrification is booming, but so is demand. Science is stronger than ever, but denial is louder too.

This new book aims to hold space for a different kind of conversation: experimental, reflective, challenging and generous. We want to surface ideas and images that help us see energy differently, and imagine better futures.
