The community energy sector is a vital part of the UK energy industry and an essential ally for a fair and just transition to a zero-carbon future.

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) has published its call for evidence to consult on the barriers to community energy projects. Using the evidence and information from this consultation, government will be better placed to understand the issues facing the sector.

This provides an opportunity for us all to raise the key challenges facing the sector – and the potential solutions. Alongside community energy organisations, we encourage those adjacent to, or outside of, the community energy sector such as local authorities, commercial developers and businesses to attend this event and respond to the consultation to create a stronger low-carbon sector.

This event will highlight the top line issues facing the sector before a more in-depth discussion on one of the potential solutions to support the sector: shared ownership.
