Our EWiRE event took place as a webinar run in partnership with National Grid ESO.  The webinar featured guest speaker Carolina Tortora, head of innovation at National Grid ESO.  We spoke to her about what measures National Grid ESO will be putting in place to be able to operate a net zero system by 2025 and what that really means in practice.

Following Carolina, we heard from Claire Addison, head of regulation at Flexitricity, giving an opportunity for Claire to respond to the points covered. We spoke to Claire about the changes she would like to see National Grid ESO implement and how policy and regulation are impacting the decisions Flexitricity make and the markets they are able to operate in, as well as where Claire sees the opportunities for the future.

Both women have returned from maternity leave recently and so as part of the discussion we touched on their top tips for returning to work and what strategies they used to ensure a smooth transition, as well as how they are coping with home working during Covid-19.

As with all EWiRE events we provided break out opportunities in the webinar for networking.

EWiRE is a vibrant network for women in clean energy with over 500 leaders and professionals – a network that champions and celebrates gender diversity in one of the world’s fastest growing industries.  You can find out more about EWiRE and its activities online here, or join our linkedin group here.
