Tuesday 28 April
Our next EWiRE event will take place as a webinar and is run in partnership with National Grid ESO. The webinar will feature guest speaker Roisin Quinn, chief engineer at National Grid ESO. We will be talking to her about managing the control room on a day to day basis as well as getting insights into managing in a crisis, exploring the power cut in August ’19 and now the change in demand patterns from Covid-19 and how it impacts the decisions that Ro and her team make on a daily basis. We will also explore what measures National Grid ESO will be putting in place to be able to operate a net zero system by 2025 and what that really means in practice.
Following Ro, we will also hear from Claire Addison, head of regulation at Flexitricity, given Claire a chance to respond to the points covered. We will talk to Claire about the changes she would like to see National Grid ESO implement and how policy and regulation are impacting the decisions Flexitricity make and the markets they are able to operate in, as well as where Claire sees the opportunities for the future.
Both women have returned from maternity leave in the last 12 months and so as part of the discussion we will touch on their top tips for returning to work and what strategies they use to ensure a smooth transition, as well as what attracted them into the sector and what they find most motivating.
As with all EWiRE events we know that you truly value the networking opportunities and discussion with peers, so we hope to provide break out opportunities in the webinar software as well as plenty of interaction on polls and questions for our speakers.
