10:00-12:00

Part of the Green Recovery Series view the highlights here.

It is now over nine months since the start of the pandemic. This leaders’ debate looked at how effectively we are using this as an opportunity to refocus policy, stimulus and investment priorities on the challenges ahead, to move faster to accelerate the energy transition and ensure Paris climate goals are met. Or, are we running the risk of locking in pollution and inequality for future generations?

“What kind of energy choices we make now will determine the decades to come… If we see a rebound like 2008, the chances of reaching our climate goals will be much slimmer, if they exist at all.” – Fatih Birol, executive director, International Energy Agency

Speakers included:

  • Keith Anderson, chief executive, Scottish Power
  • Declan Burke, director for Clean Power Strategy and Deployment, Dept for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy
  • Maria Connolly, head of clean energy and real estate, TLT
  • Simon Daniel, chief executive, Moixa
  • Juliet Davenport, chief executive, Good Energy
  • Sam Hall, director, Conservative Environment Network
  • Neil Kenward, director for strategy and decarbonisation, Ofgem
