Regen has been engaging closely with the Review of Electricity Market Arrangements (REMA) since its launch in 2022. Amid the wait for a second consultation, which was due in autumn 2023 but ended up being delayed until March 2024, we convened the sector to discuss the evolving priorities and key reform options for REMA, as well as the outstanding uncertainties, risks and opportunities.

We heard directly from representatives from the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, debated the most important issues for the clean energy sector to consider and discussed the key options for reform with leading developers and investors.

Speakers included:

  • Department for Energy Security and Net Zero
  • Matthew Billson – policy and market strategy director, Piclo
  • Frances Warburton – partner, economic advisory, strategy & transactions, EY
  • Robert Hewitt, deputy director of Electricity Market Reform, Department for Energy Security and Net Zero
  • Euan Graham – senior policy researcher within the energy, networks and systems team, Citizens Advice
  • Ellie Brundrett – net zero project manager, Regen
  • Simon Gill – energy consultant, The Energy Landscape
  • Susan Stead – senior manager, electricity market developments, SSE
