Jonty Haynes

Principal Analyst

Jonty is a Principal Analyst at Regen delivering a range of technical support services, with a focus on regional and national Future Energy Scenarios for electricity networks, gas networks and whole systems. His most recent work includes working alongside National Grid ESO to produce ‘A Day in the Life 2035‘, which looks at how a fully decarbonised electricity system may operate.

Jonty has led on Regen’s Distribution Future Energy Scenarios, using data-driven and stakeholder-informed analysis to understand the technologies that will lead the UK for net zero emissions. These scenarios are key to informing electric and gas distribution network operator business planning and future investment, ensuring the energy networks are ready to enable a net zero future. He also works with local authorities and regional bodies to help develop low carbon strategies that are specific to the drivers and challenges of the local area.

As part of Regen’s analysis team, Jonty also drives Regen’s use of geospatial assessments and effective communication of data and analysis, through graphics, maps, animations and reporting.

In 2018, Jonty completed his MSc in Renewable Energy Engineering at the University of Exeter, following a BSc in Applied Geology. His master’s thesis centred around GIS modelling of potential sites for a novel pumped energy storage concept.
