Ray Arrell

Head of Future Energy Systems

Ray is part of the Regen senior management team, leading our work and strategic goals around the future of our energy networks. Ray heads up the teams and programmes of work with National Grid and SSEN to deliver their Distribution Future Energy Scenarios analysis, as well as other work we do to understand the evolution of our energy networks.

Ray also leads Regen’s technical development strategy, coordinating the development of the company’s technical capabilities and expertise. He has strong experience in managing technical projects and is a regular speaker at energy industry events and conferences.

Ray holds a first class honours degree in electrical engineering, is a registered interim Chartered Engineer and has a parallel role working as the Technical Lead for the Electricity Storage Network. Ray joined Regen at the end of January 2017, after 13 years working in energy management in the water industry, predominantly through a number of roles he held at South West Water and the regional committee for the Institute of Water.

In his spare time Ray is a keen martial artist, teaching TaeKwonDo and training in Filipino martial arts in Exeter. Ray is also a huge fan of live music and is the lead vocalist for a Devon-based metal band.
